How to file a payment protection claim
When you need to file a credit insurance or debt protection claim, please alert us of the incident so we can support you and help you with the claims process through Securian Financial. Please file your claim online or through the other methods listed below. Online claims filing is preferred and faster than filing your claim via paper forms. Please continue making the loan payments until a claim decision is communicated to you.
Options for filing your claim
Option 1: File your claim online
- Visit securian.com/mycoverage
- Create a secure account with a username and password.
- Select the type of claim you’re reporting.
- Answer questions about your claim.
- Once the claim is received, it will be reviewed, and you will be notified of a decision.
- After your claim is submitted, you can log in any time at securian.com/mycoverage to check on claim status and receive information on payment details.

Option 2: File your claim over the phone
- Call the claim contact center at 1-800-328-9442.
- Answer questions about the claim and a claims package with a claims form will be mailed or emailed to you.
- Once the claim is received, it will be reviewed, and you will be notified of a decision.
- After you’ve reported a claim, you can call the claim center for information on claim status.
Information needed for filing a claim
- Full name
- Date of birth
- Address
- Date of event
- Cause of event
- Any documentation related to the event

- Select the “bank, credit union, finance company, mortgage company” button
- Click on “Start a new claim”
- Once the claim is received, it will be reviewed and you will be notified if it is approved, denied, or if more information is needed
- Please continue making the loan payments until a claim decision is communicated to you
- Once you’ve reported a claim, access your claim information and status at securian.com/mycoverage
If you are reporting a claim that includes a protected credit card, please indicate such within the online comment section.

If you are reporting a claim that includes a protected credit card, please indicate such to the claim service representative.

Yes, our Loss of Life protection is available on most consumer loans for just pennies a day up to a maximum of $100,000. Mortgages are excluded. Credit card balances can also be protected up to $100,000.
