Meet with our financial counselors

Our financial counseling sessions are designed to be collaborative and personalized to your situation.

  • First Session (1 hour): We'll review your financial picture, discuss your goals, and create an initial action plan. Couples are encouraged to attend together to align on household finances.
  • Follow-Up Sessions (45 minutes): Together, we'll track your progress, adjust your plan as needed, and provide ongoing support to keep you moving forward.

What to bring to your first financial counseling session

To make the most of your time, please bring:

  • Recent pay stubs (for all household members)
  • Utility, insurance, and recurring bill statements
  • Statements for all credit cards, loans, and debts
  • Medical or repair bills
  • Checking account statements (last 3 months)
  • A copy of your credit report
  • Any creditor letters, judgments, or garnishment notices
  • Insurance policies

This information gives your counselor a clear picture of your finances so they can provide tailored guidance from day one.

Consider this before you meet with a Financial Counselor

  • What is a financial counselor?

A Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor is a trained professional dedicated to helping you improve your financial well-being. They provide one-on-one guidance to help you create a budget, manage debt, and develop healthy money habits that last a lifetime. They are here to offer guidance and suggestions, but you are the one who does the work to achieve your goals.

Think of them as a coach who empowers you with the right plays and strategies to win your financial game. Their focus is on practical, everyday financial management to help you move forward with confidence. Please note that our counselors are not tax advisors, attorneys, or licensed financial advisors, and they do not provide legal advice.

  • What to expect in a session?

Your initial financial counseling session will last about one hour. This gives us enough time to get to know you and understand your financial situation. We'll listen to your goals, discuss any challenges you're facing, and start outlining a personalized action plan. If you live with a partner or spouse, we highly recommend attending the session together. Managing household finances is a team effort, and creating a plan together ensures everyone is on the same page.

Follow-up sessions are typically 45 minutes long. These meetings are designed to track your progress, adjust your plan as needed, and provide ongoing support to keep you motivated on your path to financial empowerment.
