Beaver Valley Federal Credit Union is now Clearview!
On January 2, 1942, Beaver Valley Federal Credit Union (BVFCU) began its incredible story. Back then, it was known as the B&W Employees Federal Credit Union, serving workers at the local Babcock & Wilcox plants and their families. Over the years, BVFCU grew into more than just a financial institution; it became a trusted partner, a community hub, and a source of financial empowerment for thousands across Beaver County.
Today, as BVFCU transitions to join the Clearview family, we want to take a moment to honor the legacy of resilience, care, and community that defined this credit union for over 80 years.
A Legacy of People Helping People
BVFCU’s commitment to “people helping people” wasn’t just a slogan; it was a way of life. It was a place where members came to do more than banking. They came to share life’s moments with staff who treated them like family.
"Our members didn’t just visit us for member service," shares Aaron Kniess, BVFCU CEO, who is now AVP of Spend & Vendor Management at Clearview. "They came to catch up with the staff and share life events. We celebrated births, guided members through difficult moments, and everything in between.”
It’s this sense of closeness and trust that shaped BVFCU into a pillar of Beaver County.
Milestones that Made History
Through the decades, BVFCU weathered economic uncertainties and embraced opportunities. Here are just a few defining moments that stood out in its remarkable history:
- 1942: It all begins with the chartering of B&W Employees Federal Credit Union, serving local employees and their families.
- 1967: The opening of their Beaver Falls office met the needs of their growing membership.
- 1983: Bridgewater branch operations began, and the credit union officially changed its name to Beaver Valley Federal Credit Union.
- 2001: BVFCU transitioned to a Community Charter, becoming the first in Beaver County to extend membership to a broader range of residents.
- 2025: At the time of the merger, BVFCU proudly served almost 10,000 members, with assets of $100 million and two thriving branches.
These milestones highlight the dedication at the heart of BVFCU’s story.
Carrying Traditions Forward
One of the most beautiful aspects of BVFCU is the traditions and values that have shaped it over eight decades. Kniess reminisced about the mentorship of leaders like Albert Tripodi and Margaret Pistachio to the warm, personal connections forged between staff and members, these traditions are too special to leave behind.
“The Beaver Valley staff is now part of Clearview,” said Kniess, “so the same people you’ve trusted are still here to assist you. Their commitment to our shared values remains unchanged.”
This continuity ensures that BVFCU’s legacy will live on, even as it becomes an integral part of Clearview.
A Heartfelt Thank You
“I grew up in the Beaver Valley, so being able to work in the same community has been very special,” Kniess said. He has a special thank you message to all BVFCU members and staff: “Thank you for being a part of my career for almost 30 years. Hearing your stories and experiences with Beaver Valley FCU has been truly unforgettable."
The staff now joins Clearview with the same commitment to making life better, one member at a time. Your support made BVFCU what it was, and your continued support will drive what comes next in the new chapter with Clearview.
