Frequent Asked Questions - Apple Pay®
1. What is Apple Pay?
Apple Pay allows you to pay for your purchases with your iPhone® 6 or iPhone 6 Plus by holding your phone near a contactless reader. You can also use your phone, iPad Air™2 and iPad Mini™ 3 to pay within certain apps.
2. Does Clearview FCU support Apple Pay?
Yes. Clearview members can now add Clearview debit and credit cards to Apple Pay.
3. How do I add my Clearview card to Apple Pay?
There are two ways to add your Clearview debit and credit cards to Apple Pay. If you already have a Clearview debit or credit card on file with iTunes®, you can add it to Apple Pay by entering the security code on the back of your card.
To add a new or second Clearview card to Apple Pay, use your device camera to enter your card information or type it in manually. To view the Clearview debit and credit cards you have enrolled in Apple Pay or to add a new Clearview debit or credit card, open the Passbook® app on your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus.
4. How do I use Apple Pay?
In order to use Apple Pay, your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus must be running iOS 8.1 or above. When making purchases at a retailer that has a contactless payWave terminal, hold your device over the terminal and accept the charge with your fingerprint or passcode when prompted. A subtle vibration and beep lets you know the purchase was successful.
Your experience with Apple Pay may vary by merchant. If asked to verify the last four digits of your card number when making a purchase, instead provide the last four digits of the device account number. The device account number can be found by selecting the icon while viewing your card in Passbook. You may also be asked to provide a signature or debit card PIN to complete your transaction.
You can also use Apple Pay on your iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 to make purchases within participating mobile apps. Look for the Apple Pay logo while completing your in-app purchase to use this feature.
5. How is my information protected when using Apple Pay?
When you use Apple Pay, your Clearview card number isn't stored on your phone or given to the merchant. A unique digital code is created specifically for that device. When you make a purchase, the device account number along with a dynamic, transaction-specific security code is used to process your payment. This means that your actual credit or debit card number is never shared with merchants or transmitted with the payment.
6. Which Clearview card can I use with Apple Pay?
You can use all Clearview consumer credit and debit cards.
7. How do I change my default card to my Clearview card?
Either the credit or debit card associated with your iTunes account or the first card you add to Passbook is your default card. To change your default card:
- Go to Settings > Passbook & Apple Pay.
- Tap Default Card.
- Choose a new card.
8. If I get a new card, how do I replace my old Clearview card with my new card on Apple Pay?
You'll delete the old card from Apple Pay and add the new card. To delete the old card, go into "Settings," open "Passbook & Apple Pay," select the card you want to delete and tap "Remove Card." To add your new card, simply follow the easy step-by-step instructions above in question 3.
9. What happens if I replace, update, or lose my Apple Pay device?
If you replace or update your device, your Clearview debit or credit card(s) will not be transferred automatically. You will need to set up Apple Pay again and add your cards on the new device.
If your Apple Pay device is ever lost or stolen, you can use Find My iPhone to easily suspend the device account number, or call Clearview at 1-800-926-0003 to suspend it for you. You can continue to make purchases using your physical card even when the device account number is suspended on Apple Pay.
10. Is Apple Pay free?
