You have the power to control the messaging you receive.
Would you like to actually sleep in on your day off? How about not seeing all that junk in your mailbox? Annoyed with receiving 15 pre-approved credit card offers each week? Most people don't know it, but you CAN do something about these situations.
- Call Opt Out at 1-888-567-8688 to remove your name from lists generated by major credit reporting bureaus for credit offers, reducing pre-approved inquiries on your credit report and mailings. The process is simple and only takes about two minutes. You can opt to have your name removed for 5 years or permanently. You may still receive mailings from companies that do not use a credit reporting agency to compile their lists. A good reason to do this is to help prevent and protect yourself from identity theft and fraud. Identity thieves can obtain credit in your name after visiting your mailbox and completing these applications.
- Send a postcard to the address below to register to be deleted from most advertisement mailing lists. Include your name, address and signature to stop most unwanted mailings for five years. Most people notice a marked decrease within three months. Send postcard to:

- Log on to www.donotcall.gov - Link opens in new windowto access the National Do Not Call Registry, which is managed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Read about your right to prohibit telemarketers calling. You can add up to three phone numbers (including cellular) to the register, which will prohibit most telemarketers from calling permanently. Calls from political organizations, charities, surveyors, and companies you have an existing relationship with are permitted.
During the first three months after registering, you may still receive some calls. If you continue to receive calls after three months, you may file a complaint with the FTC on this same website. Be sure you write down who is calling, the company and the date and time they called.
You may also want to register on your state’s DO NOT CALL list. Some states share their data with the national registry, some do not. To reach Pennsylvania's Do Not Call list, call 1-888-777-3406.
