It’s time to celebrate!
Mark your calendar — National Small Business Week is May 5-11, 2019. Small business is big business in the U.S. According to the Small Business Administration (SBA), small businesses comprise 99.9% of all U.S. firms and created 8.4 million jobs from 2000 to 2017. That’s approximately 66% of all new jobs created in the U.S. each year!
Celebrate your success. Running any small business is hard work, but rewarding. Celebrate your achievements with other small business owners at the SBA’s Small Business Week in Washington, D.C. Attend workshops, network, and learn from the leaders of the top small businesses of the year.
Unable to attend the conference? Register for the live 2-Day Virtual Conference hosted by the SBA and SCORE on May 7-8. Take advantage of educational webinars, mentoring advice, free resources, and more. Get additional details and register here.
All small businesses have a start-up story to tell. Print flyers or send an email sharing your story. Creating this connection will have customers feeling good about visiting your establishment and may even spark some great networking opportunities.
Also check out a Pennsylvania Small Business Development Center (SBDC) branch near you and build on your success. It helps businesses start, grow, and prosper. Through the SBA, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and host colleges and universities, the SBDC is able to offer a free and confidential one-on-one consultation. SBDC can also provide no-cost management and technical assistance, plus it offers training seminars and special events for a small fee.
Celebrate your customers. Create a loyalty program to reward customers who help you succeed, or create a special offer that ends on May 31. As part of your promotion, inform customers they save on shipping expenses, help the environment, and enable small businesses to support community groups and create more jobs by shopping locally.
Celebrate your employees. You couldn’t run your small business without them! There are many ideas about employee rewards, but the one thing your workers can all use is more time. Tell them on Tuesday to take Friday as a paid day off or surprise them at noon on Friday when you let them get their weekend started early. Here’s another alternative — allow employees to volunteer two mornings a month for a charity of their choice. Let employees know you support what’s important to them. Volunteering helps people feel good about themselves and it helps the community, too.
Celebrate your neighbors. If you’re located on “Main Street”, host a small-business sidewalk sale/block party. Deliver post cards to invite them to join you in celebrating Small Business Week. You will all benefit from the sales hype and have an opportunity to network with one another.
Clearview celebrates you! At Clearview, we’re lucky to serve so many small businesses located right here in southwestern Pennsylvania. Your hard work and daily efforts have a monumental impact on our Clearview Community and the surrounding region’s well-being. From our business to yours — thank you!
