Clearview’s Hockey Poll Winner

Clearview’s Hockey Poll Winner

Our latest Penguins’ hockey contest has just wrapped up, and we’re so excited to have met with our winner and presented his prizes this morning.

As the largest Pittsburgh-area credit union, we’re big fans of all things Pittsburgh, including the sports teams. That’s why we’ve been proud to present the Pittsburgh Penguins’ Great News Headlines of 50 Years.

Great News Headlines celebrates 50 years of hockey in Pittsburgh with a timeline, starting at the announcement of the team’s creation in 1967 and covering through the debut of hockey legend Mario Lemieux in 1984 to the fourth championship title win in 2016. If you’re a Pens fan, a Pittsburgh fan, a hockey fan or even just a history fan, you should definitely check it out.

In addition to the fun timeline, our most recent Pens contest included a little something extra…like autographed, official Penguins’ merchandise.

Here’s how it worked — On the day of the Pens’ Fan Appreciation Night, we opened a poll on our Facebook page, so fans could predict which Pens player they thought would score the first goal of the game. Almost 550 people made their predictions, and then we closed the poll before the start of the game.

As you can see above in the final results, most people thought Sidney Crosby would score the first goal, followed by Phil Kessel. 12.5% thought it would be Patrick Hornqvist and another 30% wrote in their own predictions for different players on the team. We waited…and then Carter Rowney scored the first goal!

Only one entrant listed that player as his prediction in the “Other” field on our poll, so we had a clear winner — Clearview member Tom I. from Apollo, PA.

We met with Tom this morning, and he received a mini helmet signed by Phil Kessel, a puck signed by Nick Bonino and a photo signed by Carl Hagelin. He was so excited to have won, and we were so excited to hand over the awesome prizes. Congrats again to our winner!
