Savings Bonds
Due to a recent government regulation, paper Savings Bonds are no longer sold at Clearview, or any other financial institution. Instead, all Series EE and I Savings Bonds are to be purchased directly from the U.S. Treasury’s website at www.treasurydirect.gov. You will also be able to convert existing paper bonds into electronic bonds using the U.S. Treasury’s website.
On the US Treasury’s website at www.treasurydirect.gov, you can purchase either Series EE or Series I bonds as Electronic Bonds, or request a form to purchase Paper Bonds. Electronic Bonds can be purchased, managed and redeemed completely online through the US Treasury’s website.
Series EE and Series I Electronic Bonds are sold at face value, in amounts of $25.00 or more. You can purchase a maximum of $5,000 in Electronic Bonds per calendar year. Series EE Paper Bonds are sold at half of their face value, and can be redeemed at their face value at maturity. They are available in denominations of $50, $75, $100, $200, $500, $1,000, $5,000 and $10,000. Series I Paper Bonds are sold at face value, and are available in denominations of $50, $75, $100, $200, $500, $1,000 and $5,000.
Paper Savings Bonds may still be redeemed at Clearview. You can redeem Series E, EE, I Bonds and Savings Notes with any redemption value for members who have had their account opened for at least six months. Non-members may cash bonds with a redemption value of $1,000 or less. Click here for more information.
