Frequent Questions - Multifactor Authentication
What is a PassMark?
Your PassMark is a picture and a caption that is known only to you. When you see your PassMark, you can be confident that you are at the legitimate Clearview PCU home banking site and not an imposter site.

Why is Clearview making these changes?
The security enhancements will offer you added safety by helping ensure that only you can access your Clearview PCU account.

What is this new security feature?
You have always authenticated yourself to PCU when you log in with your User ID and password. Soon, we'll also authenticate ourselves to you. You will know with certainty that you are visiting Clearview's PCU site because you will be presented with your picture and caption every time
you login.

Why is Clearview introducing this feature?
Clearview has never been successfully hacked, and no members have been affected by phishing schemes when using Clearview's PCU home banking site. But, phishing is currently the fastest growing crime in the country. To ensure that we proactively keep our members safe and secure, we will be implementing this new security feature.

Why do I need a picture and caption to logon?
Fraudsters attempt to trick people into giving up their personal information, such as passwords and account numbers, by creating fake Web sites that look a lot like the real Web sites. This is called phishing. Your PassMark image and caption are a simple countermeasure to these attacks, as well as protection against other forms of identity fraud.

How will the site be more secure?
The security upgrade will protect you from accidentally revealing your user ID and password to a fake Web site. In addition, if someone does somehow get your user ID and password, they will still not be able to access your account because they are not at your registered computer.

What keeps somebody from stealing my PassMark picture and caption?
We only show you your PassMark picture and caption if you login from your own computer or after you have answered a secret question. So it is not possible for an unauthorized person to get access to your picture.

What if someone steals my PCU password? How will PassMark keep them from accessing my account?
When someone tries to login using your stolen user ID and password, we will recognize that they are logging in from a different computer, and we will ask them a secret question. Since only you know the answers to your secret questions (Challenge Questions), they will not be able to give a correct answer. They will not be able to login.

Can I access my account from multiple computers?
Yes. You can still access PCU from any number of computers. If you login from a new computer or a public terminal, you will need to go through the extra step of answering your Challenge Questions. This helps protect you by keeping unauthorized people from accessing your valuable information. There is no limit on how many different computers you can use to access PCU.

How easy is the new security feature to use?
The new security feature is extremely easy for anyone to use. You don't need to memorize anything new. Just use the site as usual and look for your PassMark image and caption to login.

How many PassMark images are available to choose from?
There will be almost 30,000 images available from which to choose.

What is the total pool of questions Clearview can offer?
You will be instructed to choose and answer three questions.

Will I be able to change my Challenge Questions after I enroll?
Yes. There is a new security button within PCU that will allow you to change your Challenge Questions, answers, PassMark image and/or caption.

What is 'phishing'?
Attempts by fraudsters to trick people into revealing their personal information, such as passwords, by creating fake Web sites that look very much like the site of legitimate financial institutions. They send out emails randomly with links to these fake Web sites.

How much does it cost?
There is no charge to enroll.

Do I have to do it?
Yes. The new security feature adds another layer of security to our already secure home
banking product.
